In 1882 the Dunedin sailed to the
Britain loaded with frozen meat
- food from one of the colonies to
feed the 'home' market. The sailing of the Dunedin is a land
mark in economic and social history
of our country. It marked the birth of
New Zealand as a major supplier of
food into the hungry UK market. Sheep
meat, butter, cheese - the products on
which the wealth of this country were
built for over 100 years - flooded into
the UK and paid for all the goods we
imported in return. In short the success
of the Dunedin provided the foundation
on which New Zealand's
future global food trade was
based.

Jaeger believes that we do
not know enough about what
makes consumers decide to buy wine.
Until recently a senior lecturer for
the Department of Marketing at the
University of Auckland, Jaeger is now
leading a new, science-based approach
to understanding the different factors
